Works on all Gingerbread versions of Android (2.3.x)
I am not responsible for any damage on your mobile phone, please use it at own risk.
Chapters:
1. Software requirements
2. Getting into the recovery menu
3.
Rooting your phone
4. Removing stock apps
CHAPTER 1. Software Requirements
Files needed on your PC:
- Samsung USB Drivers
- ADB (With .bat file for easy reboot in recovery mode)
Files needed on your Samsung Galaxy S Plus:
- Root-i9001-Signed.zip (to root)

-
UnRoot-i9001-Signed.zip (to unroot)
CHAPTER 2. Getting into the recovery menu
I assume you already installed the Samsung USB Drivers, unpacked Reboot_Recovery.zip and you downloaded the files to your phone.
Now get your phone and go to: Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging (check it)
Insert the USB Cable and connect it to your PC, now browse to the folder where you extracted ADB
Run
"RebootRecovery.bat" to reboot your phone in Recovery Mode
When you are in the recovery menu you will see a box with an arrow and a droid.
Press the menu button (left bottom) to open the menu
(This part can be tricky. It took me about 5 times before the menu showed up. I tried pressing the home/menu/volume+ and volume- buttons)
How I got it working:
When the Droid with the arrow and the box shows I press: Volume +/- and then
a few times on the menu button (left bottom)
There is also a alternative for getting into recovery mode:
Turn off your phone, press volume up + on button until Samsung logo appears
CHAPTER 3. Rooting your phone
When you successfully opened the recovery menu you can use the Volume+ and Volume- button to scroll trough the menu.
Go to "apply update from sdcard" and press the home button to choose
Now browse for the file "Root-i9001-Signed.zip" and press the home button to apply the update
The rooting process will take about 3 seconds max, now scroll to "reboot system now" and press the home button again.
Your phone will now restart and is successfully rooted!
To unroot your phone just do the same thing but load the Unroot file (This will restore the warranty!!)
The rooting process is done now, you can keep on reading for removing stock apps.
By default the SuperUser app is installed with the Root, SuperUser is like UAC for Windows...
CHAPTER 4. Removing stock apps
When your phone is successfully rooted you can start uninstalling some stock apps that you don't want.
Go to Market > Search > Titanium Backup > Download
Once you installed Titanium Backup, go to Back-Up/Restore, press the menu button and choose Batch

Now choose "Back-up apps and system data from all users"

Now press the top button to backup all your apps.
After backing up, you can start uninstalling some stock apps,
be responsible and don't delete them all.. I'm sorry that I don't have a nice list of which apps you can remove.

If your mobile gets damaged you should restore the backup you made.

als ik in apply update from sdcard" zit krijg ik de zip file niet te zien wat doe ik fout???
Name: broodplank
Comment:
@wilco:
Scan de QR Code boven aan de site. Nu zal je telefoon het bestand downloaden naar /sdcard/downloads (dit is NIET je externe kaartje).
Dan in het recovery menu gaan naar /sdcard/downloads en de file selecteren.
Succes!

@Omar, Hello gay, first off all the tutorial says: "I am not responsible for any damage on your mobile phone, please use it at own risk."
And of course it's not broken... it's probably bricked. I've made a tutorial for that also..

@Omar, You know JTAG ? If 'No' then use www.google.com and search for JTAG info. This is solution if you brick your device. And no one is guilt for your bricked device. Buy Nokia 1600 and will work w/o problems and no possible to brick it :-D For this have service where to change OS on your device and if get problem with Bootloader to repair it. This is not for home work ! As broodplank says ""I am not responsible for any damage on your mobile phone, please use it at own risk."
And of course it's not broken... it's probably bricked. I've made a tutorial for that also..." Learn to READ all, not only needed text. regards
